Came all this way, had to explain, direct from Domingo — and his two hot brothers.
Marcello Hernández reprised his role as Saturday Night Live 's newest recurring character at Sunday's 50th anniversary special, joined by a lineup of A-list talent, including Sabrina Carpenter whose hit song "Espresso" served as the backdrop of the original Domingo sketch earlier this season.
The SNL50: The Anniversary Special sketch saw cast members Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, and Sarah Sherman also reprise their roles as besties to a woman named Kelsey (Chloe Fineman) who cheated on her now-husband Matt (Andrew Dismukes) with Domingo, a sexy stranger she met at her bachelorette party. Carpenter appeared as Kelsey's BFF who joined the other ladies for messy renditions of "Defying Gravity" from Wicked and Taylor Swift's You Belong With Me.

But the musical tribute didn't stop there. This time around Matt had a chorus of his own, made up of Bowen Yang, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, and Andy Samberg doing their rendition of Carpenter's "Espresso." They told of the groom's own exploits involving a man named Renaldo (Pedro Pascal), who turned out to be Domingo's brother. Bad Bunny also appeared as their "hot brother" Santiago, who had sex with Kelsey's mom (Molly Shannon).
Domingo made his debut on the Oct. 12, 2024, episode in a sketch called "Bridesmaid Speech" that saw host Ariana Grande and cast members Gardner, Nwodim, and Sherman singing an off-key version of Carpenter's bop "Espresso" with new lyrics exposing the bride's sexual escapades with a mysterious man. Domingo himself turns up in the end to explain to the groom, "Kelsey's a friend, she's like my sis, but we did hook up though."

The sketch became an instant hit, amassing more than 16 million views on SNL's YouTube and 100 million views on its TikTok. The character returned just four episodes later, this time with host Charli XCX and set to the tune of Chappell Roan's "Hot to Go!"

Carpenter previously voiced her support for the original sketch, jokingly praising how it was "very nice and on pitch" in an Instagram story. Shortly after, Hernández made a surprise appearance at the pop star's Los Angeles concert where he sang his verse of the SNL "Espresso" send-up and Carpenter proceeded to "arrest" him as part of an ongoing tour gag.
SNL50: The Anniversary Special is airing live on Sunday from 8-11 p.m. ET/5-8 p.m. PT on NBC and Peacock.
