Regina Hall wonders if Brenda and Ray are married in Scary Movie sequel: He 'was having issues back then'

Regina Hall is wondering what her former character — Brenda Meeks in the Scary Movie franchise — is up to, though she has her own ideas.

In Tuesday's episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, Hall reminisced on the first film in the horror spoof series, which turns 25 this year, joking that when she thinks about that upcoming anniversary, she feels like "a b---- is old."

News broke in January that the Wayans brothers, including Keenen, Marlon, and Shawn, are developing a sixth movie in the franchise, which has been dated for next summer. It marks the first time in 18 years they're reuniting to write an original script for the franchise, per Variety. When asked if she knows about the project, Hall teased, “that is what the ghosts are telling me.” She added, “Yes, they’re writing something. I honestly don’t know anything about it, I don’t know where Brenda fits in, I don’t know what Brenda is doing 25 years later."

Anna Faris says she'd only return to Scary Movie franchise if Regina Hall did too: 'And money'

Brenda and Ray, played by Shawn Wayans, famously dated in the early Scary Movies, though in a running gag, the exact nature of Ray's sexuality is constantly called into question by various characters.

Hudson also asked the star what it was like working on the project, which spawned four sequels. Hall reprised the role in every sequel except the fifth film. "You know what, it was easy, because nobody thought it was going to be a hit. Well, no one thought it was going to be a major hit," Hall explained, before adding that director Keenen Ivory Wayans "was great" to work with. (Released in July 2000, Scary Movie was one of the highest grossing R-rated horror films of all time.)

She continued, "It was fun. Anna [Faris] and I were really close. Vancouver was beautiful. It was great."
