Natalie Cole reveals White Lotus cameo happened after Mike White 'did not like' her on Survivor
When arrogant businessman Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) finally connects with his old friend Kenny (Quan) over the phone to discuss why the Wall Street Journal is calling him, he learns it's the worst-case scenario: their shady deal from the past is coming back to bite them. A panicked Kenny tells Tim that he's being investigated by the FBI because a whistleblower in his company ratted him out to the media, and Tim is implicated because of the "favor" he did for Kenny involving money laundering and bribery. That scheme earned Tim a cool $10 million, and he's ready to kill Kenny over getting exposed.
The clock is now ticking on Tim's world crumbling down around him, and his family — wife Victoria (Parker Posey), sons Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), and daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) — is blissfully unaware of the impending doom while on vacation in Thailand. It's a good thing they all gave up their phones and electronics to maintain that bubble of ignorance for the week.

The White Lotus season 3 premiere brings back [SPOILER] in shocking return
Former child star Quan first rose to popularity with his roles in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Goonies before stepping away from acting in his early 20s to attend film school due to the scarcity of substantial roles. "Opportunities for Asian actors at that time were just few and far between," Quan told EW in 2022. After graduation, he worked behind the camera, including as a stunt coordinator and assistant director alongside Wong Kar-wai. He staged a triumphant acting comeback with 2022's Everything Everywhere All At Once and swept awards season, winning his first Academy Award and Golden Globe in 2023. He has also appeared on TV shows Loki and American Born Chinese, and can currently be seen starring in action-comedy Love Hurts.
This isn't the first time White Lotus creator Mike White has enlisted a big star for a surprise voiceover appearance on his HBO vacation satire. In season 2, Laura Dern — who previously worked with White on his series Enlightened — voiced Dominic Di Grasso's (Michael Imperioli) estranged wife Abby. Her profanity-filled diatribe to her ex-husband was instantly iconic as she told him to "f--- off."
Now Quan is this season's Dern — but there's still a chance he could turn up onscreen later this season. We hear Thailand is a nice destination for criminals and LBH (a.k.a. "losers back home").
The White Lotus season 3 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
