With just one week to go until the Oscars, the 2025 SAG Awards closed out awards season with a wealth of star-studded energy in the final stretch.
Handed out Sunday evening across a Netflix ceremony hosted by Kristen Bell, this year's SAG Awards winners were announced from a strong crop of nominees — many of whom also received Academy Award nominations earlier this year, including front-running contenders like leading-performance winners Demi Moore (The Substance) and Timothée Chalamet (A Complete Unknown) to supporting champions Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez) and Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain).
Papal drama Conclave pulled off the most surprising upset of the night, though, with its ensemble (including Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini, and John Lithgow) triumphing over the cast of Wicked (including individual nominees Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Jonathan Bailey) in the highest competitive film category of the night.

On the television side, popular stars from The Penguin (Colin Farrell), Hacks (Jean Smart), and Only Murders in the Building (Martin Short individually, plus the entire comedy's cast in the ensemble category) scored big wins, though Shōgun won the most awards of the night, with individual acting wins for Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada, an ensemble award, and a stunt ensemble award for its stunt performers.
As previously announced, Hollywood icon Jane Fonda joined SAG's prestigious list of Life Achievement honorees this year, celebrating her illustrious career as well as her humanitarian accomplishments.

Outside of recognizing popular TV and film projects with awards, SAG typically shares significant nominees with the Oscars, as both groups also share a large number of voting members that cross over into their respective organizations.

The SAG Awards are often seen as a preview of Oscar tastes in the acting categories. Across the last 10 years, SAG's top prize, the ensemble cast accolade, has been awarded to six films that went on to win Best Picture at the Oscars, including last year's winner, Oppenheimer. That number jumps to seven for Best Actress, eight for Best Actor, nine for Best Supporting Actress, and is a clean sweep for Best Supporting Actor, with the SAG Awards and Oscars awarding the same 10 winners in that category.
